A Qatari foreign ministry delegation concluded on Tuesday a two-day visit to Egypt aimed at “speeding up” efforts to restore diplomatic ties between their countries.
The visit follows up on the AlUla declaration that was signed in Saudi Arabia in January and that resolved the rift between the Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt with Qatar.
The delegation was in Egypt less than a week after Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Cairo. The Qatari official was in Cairo to attend the Arab foreign ministers meetings.
Egyptian media said the delegation included Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saud Al-Thani, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and three other officials.
