The Egyptian government insists on “full attendance” in schools during the academic year 2021-2022, despite concerns of the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Egypt's cabinet media center reported that all preventative measures have been taken to fight the spread of the virus.
It further noted that there are continuous efforts to vaccinate the academic staff and high-school students in various provinces, in cooperation with Egypt's Ministry of Health.
The center further assured that a health committee was assigned to each school to make sure students and teachers are wearing facemasks, measure their temperature before entering the school, and ban gatherings to guarantee social distancing.
The Health Ministry said Tuesday that 778 new coronavirus cases were detected in Egypt, upping the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak in the country began to 308,347.
The Ministry added that 39 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 17,508. Moreover, the number of recovered cases reached 260,540.
