Egyptian authorities have expelled a second German national, who was arrested a few days ago, on suspicion of being linked to ISIS.
Security sources said on Monday they have confiscated from the suspect multiple maps of North Sinai, where he was willing to join ISIS, in addition to a desert compass.
The suspect, Isa Mohammed Abd-El-Ghany Ibrahim al-Sabagh, 18, is a German national of Egyptian origins and was arrested shortly after arriving at Luxor airport from Germany.
Egyptian media reported that he was deported after being arrested on suspicion of being affiliated with extremists and trying to join ISIS in Sinai.
Egyptian Radio and Television Union said on its website that Sabagh was deported and attached a picture of him while finishing the travel procedures in an airport.
It said in a statement that questioning him revealed that he adhered to ISIS ideology and had online contact with members of the terror group.
Investigations revealed that the suspect kept the confiscated evidence in order to ease his arrival in terrorist hideouts in Sinai.
Shortly after his arrest, Egypt’s Supreme State Security – the authority leading the investigations – announced that the suspect will be remanded in custody until further investigations.
However, the Supreme State Security office ordered Sunday the suspect’s release followed by his deportation to Germany.
The deportation process was held in coordination with the German embassy in Cairo.
Sabagh does not hold an Egyptian nationality and is currently only holding the German passport.
Last week, authorities also deported a 23-year-old Goettingen resident, who was a German student and had been in custody for weeks.
Mahmoud Abdelaziz, who was in possession of a German and an Egyptian passport when he was detained in Cairo, denied being in contact with ISIS and said he arrived in Egypt to visit his sick grandparents.
Germany's foreign ministry said authorities are looking into the allegations.
