
Egypt has recorded more than 100,000 new covid-19 cases, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday,
The ministry also reported 5,541 deaths caused by the virus. Meanwhile, up to 79,008 individuals had recovered.
The total number of reported cases reached 100,041 on Tuesday, according to the ministry.
The North African country of more than 100 million people had imposed a night-time curfew from March to June to curb the spread of the virus like shutting schools, airports, cafeterias and restaurants
In July, Egypt eased restrictions and allowed a partial reopening of mosques and churches, in addition to some educational institutions. Hotels, museums, and touristic places started to open gradually.
Meanwhile, doctors and experts are warning of a second virus wave in Egypt and other countries.
