The Egyptian government confirmed that dialysis sessions of COVID-19 patients are under strict medical control and urged citizens not to hoard drugs to confront the pandemic.

A total of 556 coronavirus patients have recovered and left the hospital after receiving necessary medical care according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, bringing the total number of recoveries to 26,691, said the Egyptian Health Ministry.

The Ministry also said it was following up on the availability of medicines and medical supplies in all government hospitals.

It asserted that medical supplies are periodically available, adding that a number of outpatient clinics, health units and medical centers in all hospitals in the governorates of Egypt will follow up on the health status of patients suffering from chronic diseases, while taking all precautions.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly also assured the availability of medicines to confront the virus, stressing that the quantities provided are sufficient.

Meanwhile, the government issued a statement denying reports circulating on social media claiming that medical units will distribute medicines free of charge to citizens inside Cairo metro stations.

The statement indicated that the Ministry of Health confirmed it did not direct any of its institutions or subsidiaries to distribute free medicines.

The Ministry asserted that no medicines are dispensed or distributed except through the designated places, whether pharmacies or hospitals, and under medical supervision
