Egypt and Armenia agreed on the importance of thwarting foreign meddling that threatens and destabilizes the region.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received on Monday Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, in the presence of his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry and the Armenian Ambassador to Cairo.

Egypt’s presidency spokesman Bassam Rady said officials discussed regional issues, including developments in Libya, Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinian cause.

“Bilateral cooperation was also discussed in line with increasing mutual investment opportunities, maximizing the volume of trade exchange, especially in the sectors of pharmaceutical industries and vocational education and tourism,” Rady added.

He said the meeting also tackled coordination and exchange of information between concerned agencies.

Mnatsakanyan, for his part, conveyed the Armenian President’s greetings to Sisi and expressed his country’s pride in the constructive cooperation ties, especially in light of the great care enjoyed by the large Armenian community in Egypt.

He also highlighted Egypt’s distinguished position, its international and regional importance and its balanced pivotal role in the region.

The FM stressed Armenia’s mutual interest in boosting joint cooperation, especially in the tourism, cultural, commercial and economic fields.
