The incident came as Kurti’s Vetevendosje party remained locked in negotiations with opposition groups over the formation of new institutions following the June 7 parliamentary election. The party won 53 of parliament’s 120 seats, making it the largest political force but leaving Kurti short of the numbers needed to govern alone.

Kadrijaj, an MP from the opposition Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), approached Kurti as he sat in the front row and threw several eggs in his direction. She shouted “Shame on you!” as security guards and other lawmakers moved to intervene.

The parliamentary session was suspended after the confrontation, with the chairperson ordering the live broadcast to be cut as security personnel surrounded Kurti. Kadrijaj later shared footage of the incident on social media.
