Eggheads' CJ de Mooi shares worrying post amid AIDS revelation and homelessness fears

Eggheads star CJ de Mooi has left fans concerned with a worrying post just days after revealing he's dying of AIDS and about to be made homeless.

The former quizzer, 49, took to social media to warn that things had taken a "nasty turn" on Wednesday.

He wrote: "I'm sorry but I'll be away from social media for a few days.

"Matters have taken a very nasty turn and I won't allow my negativity online. Thank you. Love CJ".

Flooding to send their well-wishes, one fan echoed many as they wrote: "Take as much time as you need we will all be here when you get back. We all love you".

While another added: "Sorry to hear that. Stay safe x".

A third simply posted a sad face in response, as another assured him: "Know that there are people who care about you xx".

CJ has been using Twitter to air his troubles for a while now, revealing last month that while he has been living with AIDS for the last 30 years, he might not have long left.

His account is primarily being run by a friend called Joe, who also told followers how the quizzer is struggling with money, and is about to be made homeless.

The shock revelation sparked a crowdfunding campaign set up by loyal supporters, which has so far raised £5,647.

The ex-quiz show regular was once a familiar face on TV as one of the panelist on the popular BBC show.

However, he was axed in 2016 as he faced false claims he'd sexually assaulted a man on a night out.

CJ also racked up massive legal bills fighting extradition to the Netherlands over claims he murdered a homeless man in Amsterdam in 1988.

The allegations were later dropped, but he was left with huge debts and made bankrupt in September.

CJ lives in Caldicot, Monmouthshire with his husband of three years Andrew Doran.

Mirror Online has contacted CJ's representative for comment.
