Glasgow residents have been left scrambling for answers after waking up to the bizarre sight of a huge egg spillage at their front door.
A picture shared on Twitter shows hundreds of eggs strewn across the road by the roundabout on Queen Margaret Drive, near Glasgow Botanic Gardens in the city's west end.
The image was posted by local resident Kev Campbell, who commented: "Someone has a bit of eggsplaining to do", prompting the inevitable pun competition in the comments, with users chipping in with: "Oeuf! They’ll be scrambling to get that fixed. Yolks on them, omlettin the press hear about this", "Oh no, his boss will be eggstatic" and the simple: "Cracking picture mate".
Another Glasgow Live reader emailed in with pictures to say: "It’s on the roundabout on Queen Margaret Drive, adjacent to Hamilton Drive where lots of people walk and cycle. Typical that it happens on a sunny day- they’re already starting to smell!"

Those living in the area have yet to crack the case, with Kev telling Glasgow Live: "I never saw it happen. I heard a lorry trumbling by earlier but didn't think anything of it.
"My partner was just blethering away, looked out the window and saw the mess.
"No culprits in sight."
We recently reported on an onion spillage on the M74 which left people in tears, however, we think this most recent incident lays a new marker for this very niche type of story.
Whether the driver didn't realise their egg-ceptional error or couldn't be bothered cleaning the unfortunate egg-splosion remains to be seen, however, it has given Glaswegians the opportunity to deliver their eggs-ellent puns, so let's hear your best ones in the comments!
