One of the North West's largest import/export and haulage groups has completed the acquisition of a counterpart headquartered at the World Freight Terminal in Manchester.
Burnley-based EFS Global has snapped up AFI UK, which provides bespoke freight forwarding and logistics services – both in the UK and internationally, for an undisclosed sum.
EFS Global now has 12 depots and offices across the country and operates its own UK and European road freight fleet alongside international freight forwarding services, including customs clearances.
Mark Jones, managing director of EFS Global, said: "Our acquisition of AFI UK is another step forward in our expansion plans.
"The business is a perfect fit and is a great addition to our group as we continue to focus on growing our reach and market share."
Law firm Davis Blank Furniss has acted for EFS Global on all aspects of the transaction including legal due diligence and transactional matters.
The team was led by Sonio Singh who is a partner and head of the corporate department, with support from Lauren Sever.

The deal follows a number of other acquisitions made by EFS in recent years including Euro SDB, CS Brunt Freight Services, Horizon Distribution, Bradtrans International, Euro-Tran Despatch, JRS Traction, PDQ Specialist Courier Services, FWD Freight Services and Caistor Distribution.
EFS Global was founded in 1996 by Mark Jones while AFI has been in business since 1991.
