EFL reveals latest results from Covid-19 tests across Championship, League One and Two

The EFL has revealed there were 26 positive coronavirus cases across all three divisions as part of last week's testing programme.

It's unclear whether any Sunderland players or staff were included in that figure, but given Lynden Gooch's recent absence with Covid-19 it would be safe to assume that he is included in the figures.

A total of 4,794 people were tested from 72 EFL clubs, with 60 clubs returning zero positive tests - which were undertaken from Monday, January 18 to Sunday, January 24.

The figures are dramatically less than when the tests were first introduced earlier this month.

A spokesperson from the EFL said: "The EFL can confirm that a total of 4794 players and Club staff from all 72 EFL Clubs were tested as part of last week’s testing programme, with 26 positive cases returned.

"A twice-weekly COVID-19 mandatory testing programme is now in place for all 72 Clubs, with today’s results covering all tests undertaken from Monday 18 to Sunday 24 January. 60 EFL Clubs returned zero positive tests over this period.

"Players or Club staff who have tested positive will self-isolate in line with latest Government guidance."
