EFL have released this statement following Nottingham Forest postponement

The Football League will communicate with Nottingham Forest and Reading in the coming days to discuss rearranging Saturday’s postponement.

Forest’s City Ground clash with the Royals fell victim to the adverse weather Nottingham suffered in the build-up to the game.

Referee Geoff Eltringham, in conjunction with both clubs, deemed the pitch unplayable shortly after midday.

Attention now turns to when the fixture will be played next, and with a busy midweek schedule between now and Christmas, and the EFL say they’ll discuss options with those clubs that, like Forest, saw games called off over the weekend.

As it stands, no date has yet been penciled in for the rearranged City Ground meeting.

With everything else that has happened today, the EFL will be in discussion with the clubs,” a spokesperson told Nottinghamshire Live.

“There’s no clear date yet, and once those discussions have taken place, the clubs will communicate to fans.”

It’s expected that tickets will be valid for the fresh date, and refunds available for those supporters unable to attend, but those details will be announced by Forest once confirmation of the new fixture has been revealed.

Meanwhile, the EFL gave more details about their involvement in the game being called off, saying the Reds did everything in their power to ensure it would go ahead, but were beaten by the weather.
