EFL Cup holders Manchester City are down to the last eight of the competition as they bid to defend their trophy against Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola's side lifted the EFL Cup last season as part of a domestic double along with the Premier League title, and more early silverware could be just the tonic as City seek to retain the league and push on in Europe.

Middlesbrough meanwhile host Burton Albion in the evening's other quarter-final match.

Team news

Sergio Aguero​ has sat out the last five games after suffering a groin injury, but is fit again and was an unused substitute during Saturday's victory over Everton.

Playmaker Kevin De Bruyne could also be given more game time after returning from injury at the weekend while defender Danilo will be assessed after a knock.

Goalkeeper Aro Muric could feature but midfielder David Silva and left-back Benjamin Mendy are out.

Ben Chilwell remains out. The left-back has a knee injury while central defender Jonny Evans is suspended after collecting two bookings in the competition.

Daniel Amartey is out until next year with a broken ankle while fellow midfielders Vicente Iborra and Adrien Silva could make rare starts.
