The EFL are currently trying to validate claims that Nottingham Forest are now the Football League's oldest club.
The title, which had been proudly held by Notts County for over 130 years, was passed on last week when the Magpies were relegated from the Football League.
Initially, it was believed that Stoke would take the mantle, with their badge claiming that the club were founded back in 1863, two years before the Reds (1865).

However, since then football fans and experts alike have questioned the validity of that claim.
Leading football historian Mark Metcalf sparked the three-week-long row when he dug deep into the archives to prove that the Potters were not founded until three years after Forest.
"Official records show that a club known as Stoke Ramblers was formed in October 1868 when they played their first game," he said.
"That club later merged with Stoke Victoria Cricket Club and eventually became Stoke City."
Defiant, the club last week refused to budge and unveiled their new Macron home and away kits for the 2019/20 season with the words "EST 1863" embroidered on the back of the collar.
But now they may be forced to make late alterations to those designed with the EFL suggesting that the Reds, officially founded in 1865, are in fact older and are rightful bearers of the title of the oldest Football League club.
"We can confirm that Nottingham Forest are the oldest club," said an email, received today from the English Football League.
"There appears to be some misinformation online, regarding Stoke's foundation date.
"However, we can confirm that Forest will be the oldest club, formed at an unknown date in 1865, and documented as playing its first games in 1866."
