CHANDIGARH: A day after the Punjab police neutralised two gangsters — Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kusa — allegedly involved in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala on May 29 in Mansa, state police chief Gaurav Yadav said they are making every effort to extradite Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar who had claimed the responsibility for singer’s murder.
Talking to media persons after meeting chief minister Bhagwant Mann, Yadav said a red corner notice has been issued against Brar by the Interpol and the state police are making efforts for his extradition. Yadav, accompanied by the anti-gangster task force (AGTF) head ADGP Promod Ban and other members, said there is a high degree of possibility that the AK-47 assault rifle seized from the two gangsters after the encounter in Amritsar on Wednesday was the same weapon that was used in Moose Wala’s killing but the exact information will only come to fore after the forensic science reports are out.
The DGP added that efforts were on to eliminate the gangster culture and the drug menace, a plan reviewed in the meeting with the chief minister. “ Asked if the two slain gangsters wanted to flee to Pakistan, Yadav said it was still a theory.
Replying to a question about the encounter, the state police chief said the gangsters had used an AK-47 rifle during the fight.
