Eerie warning as thief using new deception technique to target elderly residents in Terenure

South Dublin residents have once again been warned to look out for elderly neighbours and relatives after more reports have emerged about deception tactics being used by vile house predators.

Terenure locals learnt this week that one man acting suspiciously had been spotted going house to house along the Greenlea Road area during day time hours.

At one stage, he even tried to engage with one homeowner, brazenly asking her if she "remembered him" as he tried to enter the house.

He followed her from the side garage where she met him first to the front door of the house but was refused entry.

Apparently the man asked the resident for help as he had "fallen on hard times" and was acting stunned when the woman was not able to place him.

Thankfully the woman called on her son who was inside the house and when she told the man he might recognise him, he fled the scene.

Dublin Live understands that Terenure Gardai are investigating the matter.

Anyone who may have witnessed this happening, who has any information or had a similar happen them in the area in recent days are being urged to come forward.

You can contact Terenure Garda Station on 01 - 666 6400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
