A Leinster resident has given a frightening warning after waking up to find someone creeping in their window during the dead of night.
And as if that wasn't creepy enough, the mysterious figure didn't rush out when caught by the homeowner, instead claiming that he was simply "looking for Matthew".
The eerie incident happened in Kildare Town just before 3am this morning with locals being reminded in a warning text alert to keep windows and doors locked this Christmas.
Shaken by the event, the homeowner says they don't know what would have happened if they had slept through the noise.
They said: "I was just woken up to a lad trying to get through my bedroom window, when he was confronted he made up he was looking for a lad called Matthew.
"This happened in the Kildare Town area at around 2:50am.
"Please people, it's so close to Christmas keep windows and doors locked.
"Thank god we woke before he came through god only knows what would have happened."
Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time or who may have more information are being urged to contact Gardai.
