Eerie photos show inside of abandoned former college where students' work still sits on desks

These eerie photographs taken by an urban explorer show the inside a former high school that now stands abandoned with its windows boarded up.

The former Skelmersdale College site closed its doors back in 2011.

The college then changed its name to West Lancashire College and moved to a new £42.8m campus in September 2011.

The remaining buildings now sit empty with no immediate plan for the site's future.

A glimpse into the abandoned college show many of its classrooms and corridors still look as they were left, in a creepy preserved state.

Other photos show former students' work left on desks as though they simply got up and left.

Jake Parr, 32, an actor from Manchester, took the photos inside the former school which he described as a "creepy" and "surreal" scene.

He told the ECHO: "We drove past the college and saw it all boarded up so we randomly stopped and had a look around."

"It was a bit creepy really walking around in an old school. It had a lot of fire damage from vandalism afterwards as it's been closed for years.

"It was surreal because the school had basically been left as it was with a lot of things still there like tables, books, paper.

"It was like being taken back in time and walking into some rooms as they were left on the day it closed.

"Some people would probably find walking around an abandoned college too creepy but other people like me love to explore.abandoned places.

"We walked into the main building and went exploring. Most of the windows were gone and the doors were open.

"All old school fields surrounding it are overgrown and there are overgrown bushes too. It's pretty creepy. It reminded me of how Chernobyl looks.

"I've got a passion for taking pictures and bringing history back to life.

"I've got a Facebook page which I post all my pictures on when I go exploring abandoned places like this."

"It's nice that my photos bring happiness to people by bringing memories of forgotten places that they otherwise wouldn't have seen for years like schools, churches or old houses. "

The old college site was next to the former Glenburn Sports College, which closed in 2016.

Newcastle College Group, the owner of the buildings, has been approached for comment.

Trespassing on private property is dangerous and can be illegal in certain circumstances.
