Eerie look inside abandoned home being reclaimed by nature

An abandoned Cheshire house caked in dirt and rubble has been discovered - and it's like stepping back in time.

The property, which would have been grand in its hey day, now lies empty with the odd remnant from its past life displayed.

Pictures show one of the bedrooms with broken furniture and bushes growing through the window, while another picture shows what may once have been the lounge with a settee and carpet pulled back from the floorboards.

The house also has peeling wallpaper and curtains still at the windows, and books and magazines lying around - including a page from the Daily Star dated August 18, 2000, reports StokeonTrentLive.

Outside, the front of the house has pillars and there is a dumped mattress, while in the grounds there is an old caravan.

Coronation Street star Jake Parr has travelled the length and breadth of the country in search of unusual buildings as part of his photography project Abandoned.

The 32-year-old took these remarkable pictures of the Cheshire house after finding the property on Google Maps before the country went into lockdown.

Jake said he stumbled across the house hidden deep beneath some trees and bushes and was amazed at what he found.

He said: "I never reveal the exact location of the places I find but this one was near Crewe. The sort of places I find are all old and abandoned so I never know what I am going to find.

"This house was as though someone just left and never came back. There was a pair of shoes and a sewing machine, and beds still in the house - plus an enormous Quality Street tin which was much bigger than the ones we get now!"

Jake added: "This is a hobby for me, it's an adrenaline rush and makes me happy. Whereas some people like to go walking or do extreme sports, this is what I like to do - how I get my excitement.

"As well as visiting many places in the UK, I've also been over the Lanzarote and Menorca and hopefully next year I will be travelling over to Chernobyl to explore."
