Eerie images of deserted Liverpool beer gardens in the sunshine during coronavirus pandemic

The sun was shining across Liverpool today which usually means beer gardens, pubs and pretty much any outdoor space would be filled with people.

However, given the current lockdown rules and social distancing measures in place, all pubs and bars are now closed and the public is no longer allowed outside unless they are doing their one form of daily exercise or their essential shop.

Images taken by our photographers this afternoon show how different the city looks during the coronavirus pandemic to previous sunny days.

Usually, you would struggle to find space on Chavasse Park in Liverpool ONE or a seat on its terrace at one of its restaurants - but today this stood empty.

Smithdown Road's Brookhouse Beer Garden was also deserted.

The scene across some of Liverpool's most popular bars was the same and only highlighted the impact Covid-19 is having on the city's hospitality industry.

They do also prove how many in Liverpool are continuing to stick to the government's rules and social distancing measures which have been in place fully since March, 23.

But, they have ultimately just made us miss a summer's day in Liverpool even more so.
