Eerie footage shows inside abandoned Pontins site that's been reclaimed by nature

Eerie video footage offers a look inside an abandoned Pontins site which has been reclaimed by nature.

In its heyday, thousands of holiday makers flocked to the Pontins holiday park in Hemsby, Norfolk, for their summer holidays.

But in 2008, the once popular park shut down suddenly and the site soon fell into disrepair.

The 20 acre site has since become a ghost town, with nature slowly creeping in and reclaiming many of its buildings.

Eerie video and drone footage taken by urban explorer Ste G, shows the scale of the abandoned site which has been left in tatters.

From former entertainment areas to an empty swimming pool, the holiday park has become a target of graffiti artists and arsonists in recent years.

Old arcades, run down chalets and the local Queen Victoria can all be seen in the video which was taken during summer 2019.

In August, a huge blaze broke out at the derelict park, which had recently been granted planning permission to build 190 homes and a caravan park.

The blaze was one of two fires at the park in less than a week and was treated by fire crews as a suspected arson attack.

Speaking to the ECHO, urban explorer, Ste, 33, said: "It's been on my list to go and see it for a long time.

"All the chalets were still there and the pub, it was massive - there's about 600 rooms.

"It was quite eerie, especially in what used to be a theatre or entertainment area because you couldn't see anything it was pitch black."
