Eels' Matterson facing extended NRL ban

Referee Grant Atkins sends off Parramatta's Ryan Matterson in the Eels' big NRL loss to Manly. (AAP)

Parramatta's Ryan Matterson is set to miss the final three rounds of the NRL season for the hit on Manly centre Brad Parker that resulted in the Eels back-rower being sent off.

Matterson has been charged with a grade three careless high tackle by the NRL match review panel after the tackle left Parker concussed during the Eels' 56-10 loss on Saturday night.

Even with an early guilty plea Matterson won't be available until the first week of the finals but risks a five-game ban if he unsuccessfully fights the charge at the judiciary.

His Parramatta teammates Maika Sivo (careless high tackle) and Joey Lussick (dangerous contact) have been fined.

In other charges stemming from Saturday's action, West Tigers have Jacob Liddle and Thomas Mikaele facing one-game bans for their third-minute crusher tackle on North Queensland's Heilum Luki while the Cowboys' Griffin Neame has been cited on the same charge and penalty.

Valentine Holmes and Michael Chee Kam (dangerous contact) can each pay a fine.
