Following recent criticisms of graduate job candidates and GCSE pass rates - for example here - the Today programme on the BBC has confirmed some disturbing results from one examination board. It seems that achieving 47 per cent this year would have earned some students an A+ mark, while an 18 per cent score in maths would have garnered a C pass, which counts as 'O' level equivalent.
I'm not going to turn into Victor Meldrew now that I'm 40, but isn't this a bit of a low pass mark to set?
