The General Education Department spent 88.6% of the total Plan outlay in the 2021-22 financial year.
A total of ₹925 crore was allocated as Plan fund to the General Education Department in the last fiscal. Of this, ₹819.53 crore was utilised on 551 components across 38 projects.
A statement from the office of Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty on Tuesday said figures showed that work related to basic infrastructure development of schools was executed well. Even though schools remained closed, projects were implemented online. The shift to e-office was also implemented well in the department offices.
The department’s Plan fund utilisation, despite the challenges of COVID-19, was a historic high, the Minister said.
