A West Australian education assistant has been charged with assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Bunbury.
WA Police confirmed detectives this week charged a 51-year-old man following an incident at the school he was employed at back in February.
A police spokesman said the man was now facing a charge of aggravated common assault.
"It is alleged the man, who [at the time] was 50 years old and a staff member at the school at the time of the alleged incident, assaulted a female student who was 15 years old at the time," he said.
"The alleged incident occurred at the school during school hours."
The ABC understands the incident took place at Bunbury Regional Community College, which caters for students who struggle to attend mainstream schooling.
It's understood other staff at the school reported the incident.
Bunbury Regional Community College principal Brett Piggott told the ABC he could not comment as the matter was before the courts, and confirmed the man no longer worked at the school.
The man has been charged with aggravated common assault and is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court next month.
