Eduardo Herrera breaks Rangers exit silence as flop makes shock return claim

Rangers flop Eduardo Herrera has revealed he almost made a shock return to Rangers before making his move to Mexican side Puebla.

The Mexican international finally ended his Rangers hell this week by signing a deal with his homeland club.

But the striker admitted he was close to returning to Steven Gerrard's side to see out his contract after his loan spell at Necaxa ended, if it wasn't for work permit issues.

Herrera had five months left on his Ibrox deal before Puebla made an approach for the 31-year-old.

He said: "My loan spell with Necaxa finished and I had to report back to Rangers.

"I still had five months left of my contract there and I was preparing to return and try and get my place back.

"But there was a problem with work visas procedures and of course, they had a different manager and coaching staff from when I signed for them.

"While I was preparing to return to Scotland, I got told by Rangers that Puebla were interested in me.

"It was an easy decision to make and I accepted it with enthusiasm.

"I have to be honest with Puebla and admit I am not match fit and it will take time for me to get to that level.

"But I can't wait to get started and begin a new chapter in my career."
