Teenage midfield sensation Eduardo Camavinga is set to reject the latest contract offer from his club Rennes and this could see the young star available for transfer as soon as this summer.
Camavinga's current deal expires in 2022 and according to The Athletic, the midfielder does not intend to sign an extension with the French outfit.
If Rennes want to avoid letting their star leave on a free transfer in 2022 they could look to cash in this summer with a number of Europe's biggest clubs keen on the 18-year-old, including Arsenal who have previously been linked with the player.
And Arsenal fans in the past have been convinced that the Frenchman wants to join Mikel Arteta's side.
Twelve months ago, Camvainga posted on social media a picture of him at home with his brothers playing FIFA as many teenagers do.
Eagle-eyed observers, however, noticed a framed poster on the wall behind the TV and were convinced the picture was a homage to Arsenal.
With Rennes struggling in Ligue Un this season, sitting 7th in the table, and exiting the Champions League at the group stage after failing to win any of their matches, the French international is said to be considering his options before this summer's transfer window opens.
His agent Jonathan Barnett in an interview with The Athletic said that his client would be more than capable of playing in the Premier League.
"Camavinga can play next year in the Premier League. He is that good. Whether he will or not, I don’t know. His background has been tough if you know what he went through as a refugee and the burning of his home (in Rennes)," said Barnett.
"But his character is amazingly strong. He is not your average 18-year-old.
"Playing in front of 100,000 people is not going to scare him. He’s a lovely boy and I think he’s going to be a superstar.”
