Eduardo Camavinga deals Manchester United transfer blow

Eduardo Camavinga has dealt a blow to any prospective suitors by insisting he is happy at Rennes and that he wants to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 club.

The 18-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in world football, with Manchester United and Real Madrid already said to be targeting a move.

Camavinga is already approaching his 50th appearance in the first-team for Rennes, having became France's youngest debutant in over 100 years when he replaced Paul Pogba in the national squad last September.

Interest in the teenager continues to be discussed with a transfer expected as Camavinga enters the final year in his current contract - which expires in the summer of 2022.

However, the youngster has now dealt a huge blow to any suitor by insisting he wants to stay at Rennes for the foreseeable future and even sign a new deal.

Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, he said: “My change of agent? These are things that happen, we shouldn’t focus on that. I have faith in my parents, quite simply.

“Could I sign an extension? Yes. Do I want to? Yes. What is holding it up? I do not know, there are negotiations.

“If you want to talk about that, there is my father… It is you, the journalists, who have been talking about me leaving, but I am 100 per cent focused on the club.”
