Edu told to negotiate triple deal as Newcastle battle Arsenal for £40.5m Premier League attacker

Arsenal have multiple surplus players on the fringes, the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Rob Holding and Callum Chambers. All who have either failed to break into the first-team squad this season or not played at all.

Newcastle will be a force to reckon with when challenging for big money signings like rumoured links with Arsenal target Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

But, would Newcastle be interested in Arsenal’s players that are not getting a look in at the Emirates?

The Arsenal Way's presenter and writer, Tom Canton (TC) spoke with editor Hush Kerai (HK) on Friday mornings Arsenal Agenda Show to discuss the possibility…

TC: “Do you think Newcastle could be looking to get any of Arsenal’s surplus players?”

HK: “I would hope so. But, I don’t think so. If we look at it Maitland-Niles I think we turned down an offer from West Brom and Wolves, last January around the £20m mark. I think the possibility of Newcastle going in for him is probably very low.

“The fact that we sold them Joe Willock and from what I can see, he’s not having a great time. He kind of seems to be bypassed by the playing style. So I can’t see them going to Maitland Niles.

“In the same way, Rob Holding has fallen out of favour a little bit as is Chambers. We’ve not seen them all play this season. Their stocks are slowly dwindling and I wouldn’t expect Newcastle to spend all their money on players who can’t get into our side.

“I think they’ll be aiming a little bit higher than that, personally.”
