Edu told to complete one more Arsenal signing after Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber transfers

Arsenal have moved aggressively at the beginning of the transfer window, securing the signing of Kai Havertz, who became the club's second most expensive player behind only Nicolas Pepe. However, football.london understands that Arsenal have agreed a £105million fee with West Ham for Declan Rice, to smash that record.

Furthermore, the club have agreed on a price above £40million for Jurrien Timber of Ajax. Three major signings are expected now to be confirmed less than three weeks into the summer window.

However, many have demanded more from the side. football.london surveyed thousands of Arsenal fans in the Big Forum on a range of topics including whether they believe the Gunners will challenge next season, who the breakout star of the season was and whether Emile Smith Rowe will have a future at the club in the long term amongst other things.

Interestingly, when quizzed on if the club need at least four signings 52% agreed. Meaning more than half of those surveyed believe that at least one more player needs to come in despite the potential £200million-plus that has already been invested.

Who that player could be is the question. There have been links to the likes of Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Ivan Fresneda amongst others.

There’s certainly further need in central midfield should both Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey depart. Lavia would certainly fit the mould but the Belgian is drawing significant interest from elsewhere too.

The pressure is seemingly on Edu Gaspar, the club’s sporting director, and the owners, Stan and Josh Kroenke, to continue the spending. After such an impressive start and equally entertaining season, the promise and opportunity for the forthcoming campaign is too great to ignore.

The Brazilian has been a figure under significant scrutiny for previous deals but is finally starting to get the majority on side, if not already, with the work in the window. Especially considering the prospective deal for Rice and last summer's acquisition of another priority target Gabriel Jesus highlights the improvement in securing key players in the window.

The manager Mikel Arteta has been outspoken on his desires to reinforce the squad and backing the Spaniard receives will be imperative for the club. With Champions League football coming, having the strength in depth required is critical.
