Edu tipped to complete 'big surprise signing' at Arsenal after £73m triple transfer swoop

Arsenal have spent £73million in the summer transfer window so far.

And they've been tipped to make a 'big surprise signing' before deadline day amid links to the likes of Neto, Martin Odegaard, Houssem Aouar and Tammy Abraham.

Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu have already added Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White to an Arsenal squad that finished eighth in the Premier League last season and the former admits he's hopeful of doing more business before August 31.

"It’s been really busy. You’ve just named a few names but that tells you how much we had to do in the position that we started the window," the Spaniard said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday morning.

"We are talking about the most difficult, probably, transfer market in this industry for sure and we are trying to adapt. The club, the owners and myself, we all have the same interests which is to make this team much stronger.

"We know we have still things to do to get what we want."

Interestingly, former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has delivered his verdict on what the north London outfit need to get done ahead of transfer deadline day.

And he thinks a a 'big surprise' signing would go some way to appeasing supporters especially if the Gunners don't start the season strongly with games against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City before the window shuts.

"If it’s not a good start, I think things will change really quickly because the fans will let them know and they’re not happy," he said on his Seaman Says podcast. "You go on Twitter and look at the comments about Arsenal and all the fans are frustrated at the lack of signings.

"Lots of people supposedly coming but nothing ever happens.

"It would be great for us to just get a big surprise signing that we haven’t really heard about just to settle the fans.

"We’re supposed to be getting certain people and it just doesn’t happen.

"The Ben White move took forever to go through."
