Edu targets move for Brazilian midfielder as Arsenal are urged to make £55m transfer decision

Welcome to our football.london The Arsenal Way daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Cash in on Auba, says Frimpong

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has told the club to sell Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Speaking after the Gabonese international was stripped of captaincy at the club he said: "I feel like in any profession there must be a professional attitude. And we all know Aubameyang has had one or two problems with coming late so I feel it was the right call.

"He’s the captain and there has to be an example so the younger players in the squad can follow."

Frimpong went on to say that the club should be looking to cash in on the player and invest that into a new forward, "I think it would be good for Arsenal to cash in. Look at his age, he's getting older, and we need a new striker that we can have for the next five years.

"He’s a great player but this is the best time to cash in. It will be difficult though, as he's on very good wages. It's not going to be easy to get him out."

Our take: Being stripped of the captaincy band will be a huge blow for Aubameyang and it may just be that we’ve seen the last of the player in an Arsenal shirt.

Arsenal spark Melo interest

Calciomercato has reported that Arsenal are interested in Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo. The Brazilian international moved away from Barcelona in January 2022 for a £63 million fee.

But, he’s struggled since arriving in Turin and it could lead to a swift exit away from the Italian side.

Arsenal need to bolster their midfield as the players like Thomas Partey and Mohamed Eleney will have to leave to prepare for the Africa Cup Of Nations very soon.

Our take: Melo looks to have moved down the pecking order under Massimiliano Allegri. A move in January would be a good deal for both clubs.

Sanches has transfer agreement

The Mirror have claimed that Renato Sanches has agreed to a ‘gentleman's agreement’ with Lille over leaving the club.

Lille’s president has said that if an ‘appropriate offer’ is tabled for the Portuguese international, they will be open to letting the Ligue 1 midfielder go.

But Sanches has previously said that he is open to a move, more swayed by one in Italy, however.

Speaking to L’Équipe, he said, “Milan and Arsenal are maybe interested, I spoke with my agent about it but I can’t say any more.

"I just know I’m ready. If the offer arrives I’ll evaluate it. Milan are a great club – historic, classy. I really like them.”

Our take: Ouch…he didn’t even elaborate on Arsenal's interest. Whether or not that's a signal on his preferred destination, we'll have to wait and see.
