Edu set to make Renato Sanches decision as £26m Arsenal star edges closer to permanent departure

Welcome to our football.london The Arsenal Way daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Lucas Torreira to stay in Italy

Arsenal loaned Lucas Torreira to Italian club Fiorentina at the beginning of this season and it looks like the club could negotiate a price with the La Viola to keep the midfielder in the Seria A permanently.

TuttoMercatoWeb has reported that Fiorentina are looking to buy the player for a ‘discounted price’, with Torreira only having a year left on his contract at the Emirates.

A fee around the margin of £15 million is said to be suitable and the player's agent is reported to have held talks with Fiorentina this week, over the possibility of a permanent move to the club.

Our take: Arsenal may just as well take this deal as it’s a good opportunity to offload players and get a decent amount of cash in return.

Joe Cole praises Arsenal youngsters

Former Chelsea and England midfielder Joe Cole claims that Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka could together be worth £100 million.

Speaking to the All To Play For podcast, Cole said: “Smith Rowe, he is holding Arsenal together. “What is 21 or 22? He’s the man they look to, him and Saka.

“I think there are certain managers out there that are known, and when they go for jobs, they say ‘I bring youngsters in’. Young players are a commodity now. At Arsenal now, Saka and Smith Rowe, that must be at least £100 million worth of players.”

Smith Rowe made his senior England debut last week and scored against San Marino on Monday.

Arsenal could swoop for Sanches

CalcioMercato has reported that agent Jorge Mendez is speaking to clubs to decide the future of Renato Sanches. The Portuguese international is an Arsenal target and has reinvented himself at Lille where he is now apparently looking to play for an elite club.

Italian giants AC Milan are said to also be interested in the midfielder and are set to speak to his agent soon. Arsenal did their best to sign the player in the summer transfer window, but it’s stated in the report that Lille rejected the Gunners bid of £29.5 million for him.

Our take: This could be a round-two possibly for Arsenal to sign Sanches and try to strengthen that central midfield role. They have the cash to spare and maybe a higher bid might just do the trick this time.
