Edu sends classy farewell message to Brazil as he takes up role as Arsenal's technical director

Arsenal confirmed the return of former midfielder Edu as technical director at the club on Tuesday, with Arsenal fans welcoming him back with open arms .

The former player, who was part of the 2004 invincibles squad, has returned to the Emirates Stadium 14 years after he left the club in 2005, having made 127 appearances for the club.

The Brazillian left a similar role with his national team in order to take up the job with the Gunners, although he left on a high, having helped to team to lift the Copa America title, with a 3-1 final win over Peru on Sunday.

The move to Arsenal became imminent once the national team announced the 41-year-old's replacement on Tuesday afternoon, the statement from the Gunners followed soon afterwards.

Edu has now taken to social media to say goodbye to Brazil.

"As they say: Always leave the way you entered, through the front door," he wrote on his Instagram page.

"I say: Always get better than you got in the front door.

"So I'm leaving, BETTER in every way !!! My THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for being part of those 3 years in the biggest World Team!!!"

The now Arsenal man also wrote a second message saying goodbye to Brazil manager Tite.

"On the way to the airport I tried to talk on the phone and I could not .... I think my conduct beside you speaks for me!

"At his side, not only did I grow professionally but also as a man ... My gratitude for these years together.

"I'll miss you"

Edu's impact at the Emirates Stadium has already been felt, as the Brazillian played a significant role in the arrival of Arsenal's one arrival so far this summer - Gabriel Martinelli.
