Edu's pursuit of La Liga star can be altered with £31m bargain transfer to better suit Arsenal

Arsenal have been on the hunt for a winger throughout the summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta needs to find a player who can provide stern competition for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

And it seems the Gunners could be close to achieving this objective by signing Yeremy Pino from Villareal. The north London club have been linked to the youngster since the start of the last season.

However, Arsenal should instead look to pursue a deal for Pino’s teammate Arnaut Danjuma, who would be available at a lower price. He has already made his intentions clear to play in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta is thought to be on the lookout for a new winger before the window slams shut, and the unsuccessful pursuit of Raphinha has been the strongest hint yet that the club is serious about recruiting one. Considering there hasn't been any movement since suggests that the chance to secure the Brazilian's services was too good to ignore.

Despite that possible explanation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Edu already has his sights set on another winger, but Arsenal's silent approach is making it difficult to get clarity over who it could be. Arsenal have been linked with a 'mystery winger', which according to Fabrizio Romano, remains a position Edu and Mikel Arteta want to address.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Villarreal have received 'more than an interest' in a player identified as Pino. The 19-year-old winger has shone for Unai Emery's side, and both Arsenal and Liverpool have been credited as having the greatest link to the player.

Despite the strong links to Pino, Arsenal was previously interested in Danjuma. Due to his excellent performances last season, Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in the forward. Danjuma admitted his desire to return to England as he said via Sky Sports: "There is definitely unfinished business for me in England. Because if you look back at the reason why I joined Bournemouth, it initially was for me to play Premier League football."

The winger caught the attention of the footballing world with his goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League first-leg quarter-final that gave Villareal a surprise 1-0 advantage going into the reverse fixture. The Dutchman has thrived since making a summer move before the previous campaign.

Danjuma has already experienced English football with Bournemouth, which means the adaptation process could be easier if he was to join the club instead of Pino, who has only played in Spain. The Dutchman also has the necessary experience to come in and battle Saka and Martinelli immediately for their starting positions, which will improve the competition.

However, the Gunners are not the only side to register Premier League interest as, according to Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti West Ham were also in talks about a potential €36million (£31million) fee. Danjuma would certainly be a safer addition compared to Pino, who is still only 19, and with Arsenal already having quality youngsters in the same position, Arteta should opt for a deal to sign Danjuma instead.
