Edu's planned £81m mega signing solves Arteta's biggest problem but will divide Arsenal fans

Arsenal are planning another move for Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, according to the Express, in light of the England international falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.

Sterling has played just 461 minutes across ten games this season for City after Jack Grealish and Phil Foden have been handed starring roles by the Spaniard.

Arteta worked closely with Sterling at the Etihad following his tenure as Guardiola's assistant and the pair have an excellent relationship, according to the Daily Star, probing as to whether the Arsenal boss can prise one of the league's best to the Emirates.

However, despite Sterling's incredible goal-scoring record, the 26-year-old's dip in form amid starved game time has divided fans as to whether the forward's arrival would be welcomed or not.

Tom Canton, Jake Stokes and Umar Choudhry spoke live on The Arsenal Way show to discuss the prospect of Raheem Sterling joining the Gunners and whether the England international's arrival at the Emirates would be well received, on the Arsenal Agenda show via YouTube.

Choudhry kickstarted the debate by outlining his hesitance regarding the move, saying he is 50-50 as to whether he thinks the signing of Sterling would be a good move.

"I'm 50-50," he began. "Guardiola apparently has contract problems, Grealish has come into the team and Sterling is struggling to get into the team at the moment.

"There's no denying Sterling is a fantastic player. He's provided output in terms of goals and assists for City and Liverpool, and did so for England - probably England's best player. In terms of his track record, it's perfect.

"The thing with me that scares me is that he's won it all at Manchester City and Arsenal is a project at the moment so we're not going to be in the Champions League overnight. We're not going to win the Premier League overnight. Will he want to come to a team in that state of a project?"

Choudhry concluded: "He would be a fantastic acquisition and give Arsenal the quality that they need but when you think of the other side, 'will he give that energy?' and, 'will he have that same motivation and drive that he had at City?' so for me it's 50-50."

Stokes added to the discussion by pledging his confidence behind the potential move in a deal in which Arsenal must go all out for.

"Arsenal must go all out for Sterling," he began. "Before the Euros I was a bit hesitant as to whether I would start Sterling in my ideal England front four so to say, but it's fair that he blew most fans out of the water; our best player, scored when we needed goals, so in that respect, since I've rated him even higher.

"I find it weird how he isn't in City's [starting] team at the moment and I know they signed Grealish for £100 million but Sterling is Sterling. He would bring [Arsenal] goals and goals from the wing as well. That's something Arsenal need.

"If he becomes an option I think Arsenal need to go all out for him - he's one of the league's best players."
