Edu's £67m gamble now the proven key behind Arsenal's ruthless transformation under Mikel Arteta

Arsenal had an abysmal start to the season which saw the club lose their opening three games of the Premier League campaign.

The club also conceded nine goals during this time and were left at the bottom of the table going into the September international break.

However, the club’s fortunes have since changed dramatically, with Mikel Arteta’s side now having gone 10 games unbeaten and within touching distance of the Champions League places.

And a major reason for this is due to formidable pair in Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey, who boast marvellous unbeaten records at the club when in the starting line-up.

The Brazilian defender has not lost a game with the club in a breath taking 218 days, showing just how crucial he is to the team.

He is the leader in defence, as he is constantly seen orchestrating the backline and is usually the player to clear the ball away from danger, leading on the front foot.

His presence was missed in the opening three games of the season and it is a big reason why Arsenal conceded the most in the league during his absence.

At just 23-years-old he is proving to be one of Arsenal’s best defensive signing in recent years and that magnificent unbeaten record is proof of this.

Partey was signed in the same transfer window as Gabriel in the summer of 2020 and he has been just as important to Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Ghanaian midfielder is typically head and shoulders above any other player in the middle of the pitch and plays a big part in the Gunners’ domination of matches.

In every game he has started in the Premier League since April 1 of last season, the north London side have yet to be beaten.

It is no coincidence that we have such a great record with both players in the team, as their dominance to create a strong Arsenal spine is the reason why the club is back in contention for a Champions League place next season.

If Partey and Gabriel manage to maintain their fitness, which they struggled to do last season, then Arteta will continue to see the positive results.
