Edu's £55m Arsenal masterstroke could prove to be the solution for Mikel Arteta conundrum

Kieran Tierney and Martin Odegaard have been crucial for Arsenal over the last two fixtures, which has been proved with their goal contributions.

The two players have combined for a goal in the games against Everton and Southampton, and they were both at crucial points of the match.

They have both been out of favour in recent weeks and were replaced in the starting line-up, but they are now the first names on the team sheet.

With both of these players being signed by Edu, it shows that their link-up is a sign of many positive outcomes still to await the Gunners in the future.

Tierney had lost his position in the side, after an injury he had suffered led to the emergence of Nuno Tavares, who shocked everyone with his impressive performances while covering for the injured Scotsman

However, Tierney returned to Mikel Arteta’s side in the disappointing defeat against Everton, which he had no part to play in.

Before he was substituted, the Gunners were 1-0 up courtesy of an assist from the left-back, after an excellent cut-back cross for Odegaard.

Tierney has been a breath of fresh air since coming back into the side, as Arsenal have missed a left-footed player on the left-hand side, which has given the Gunners more space on the pitch due to Tavares and Emile Smith Rowe being utilised on the left side of the field. But with both players being right-footed, they had the tendencies to cut in more often.

Odegaard had also fallen out of favour under Arteta, but his recent performances have made him a crucial player for the team.

He has gone on to score three goals in three games, with two of these being provided by Tierney.

Both of the goals were created in a similar way with Tierney providing a cross from the left-hand side, which was met by Odegaard.

Arsenal have been criticised for their attacking phase of play so far this season, but the combination of Tierney and Odegaard could be a solution for Arteta.
