Arsenal fans have taken to social media to speculate about Nicolas Pepe's long-term future.
In the summer of 2019, the Gunners were heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, but ended up gambling on his Ivory Coast teammate for a club-record £72m instead.
It was certainly a bold transfer decision that former head coach Unai Emery has since claimed was made by then head of football Raul Sanllehi and current Arsenal technical director Edu.
"We signed [Nicolas] Pepe. He’s a good player but we didn’t know his character and he needs time, patience. I favoured someone who knew the league and wouldn’t need to adapt," Emery told the Guardian last year.
"[Wilfried] Zaha won games on his own: Tottenham, Manchester City, us. Incredible performances. I told them: 'This is the player I know and want.' I met Zaha and he wanted to come.
"The club decided Pepe was one for the future. I said: 'Yes, but we need to win now and this lad wins games'. He beat us on his own.
"It's also true he was expensive and Palace didn't want to sell.
"There were a series of decisions that had repercussions."
But has Gunners chief Edu been proven wrong about Pepe being the future for Arsenal?
Well, judging by some of the responses on Twitter, there's a feeling that Buyako Saka's recent performances as a right-winger doesn't bode well for Pepe.
Take a look at what's been said...
Having been used in multiple positions at the start of the season, Saka has impressed as a right-winger in each of Arsenal's last three Premier League games.
And perhaps coincidentally, the Gunners have taken maximum points from games against Chelsea, Brighton and West Brom, with Saka netting twice and providing one assist in the process.
Meanwhile, Pepe has been an unused substitute in the last two games and may have slipped even further down the pecking order as Willian got the nod ahead of him at the Hawthorns.
