Edu makes £30m transfer decision to solve Mikel Arteta's biggest problem at Arsenal

Arsenal have made a bid for Norwich City attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendia.

football.london had previously reported the Gunners' interest in the Argentine last December, but the club never made a formal offer and instead signed Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

And following a successful spell, Arsenal had been keen to bring the Norwegian back to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Although, it was also understood that if Gunners technical director Edu failed in his attempts to reach an agreement with Los Blancos regarding Odegaard then it will be Buendia who becomes the prime target.

So with a decision being made to launch a bid for Buendia, it would all but confirm that the north London outfit are no longer pursuing a deal for Odegaard.

As reported by football.london , the bid which is believed to be in the region of £30million inclusive of add-ons, was also matched by fellow Premier League side Aston Villa, who want to prize the 24-year-old away from Carrow Road too.

Following 15 goals and 16 assists in the Championship this season, it's important that Arsenal win the race for his signature as it could go a long way to solving Mikel Arteta's biggest problem.

Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is coming off a campaign where he struggled for goals - mainly due to the lack of chances that were created for him.

Creating chances just so happens to be Buendia's main priority whenever he steps onto a football pitch as he's explained how he can thrive in the no.10 position behind the main striker.

"On the pitch, he gives me the chance to feel freedom to try my football, creating chances for my teammates. I try to do my best in the final third," Buendia said of Norwich boss Daniel Farke.

"At first, I played on the right wing, but with the freedom I can move around.

"For most of my life, my position has been the number ten behind the striker, but with this system, it doesn’t matter for me if I’m there or on the left or right wing."

If Buendia were to make the switch to Arsenal, he would be more likely to play in a central role in the No.10 position, with the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka often manning the right-wing.
