'Edu is ruthless' - Arsenal fans react as Shkodran Mustafi set for exit

Arsenal's January transfer window has been hectic compared to the rest of their Premier League rivals, with a host of outgoing deals before switching attention to incoming business.

Mesut Ozil and Sokratis have both seen their contracts ended six-months prematurely, allowing them to seal transfers elsewhere and removing their hefty wages from the Gunners' financial obligations.

The month has also seen Sead Kolasinac move on loan to Schalke, where he'll see out the final months of his contract at Arsenal, while young defender William Saliba has moved on loan to Nice.

In terms of incomings, Mat Ryan has been signed on loan from Brighton and Martin Odegaard is set to follow suit from Real Madrid, with the final deal being eyed concerning a left-back.

While that has keep Mikel Arteta and Edu busy, their work is not yet done and Shkodran Mustafi looks set to become the latest player to see his contract ended prematurely, as reported by Football.London.

The Germany international has not featured since Boxing Day and faces a wealth of competition at the heart of defence, where Calum Chambers, Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding and David Luiz are on the books.

It shows that Arsenal are continuing their vast January overhaul of the squad, which may continue into the summer, and fans on social media have been issuing their reaction.

While the departure of Mustafi has been celebrated, concerns have been raised by the fact that this is another exit without the Gunners receiving a fee in return.

Considering Arsenal paid £35m to land Mustafi from Valencia, it is further evidence that there have been significant issues in the recruitment structure.
