Edu has discovered his Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer alternative in Real Madrid star

Luka Jovic is said to be keen on leaving Real Madrid in the near future and is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar.

The La Liga giants shelled out a huge fee – rumoured to be in the region of £50million - for the former Eintracht Frankfurt star in 2019, but he’s never really hit the ground running at the club.

Jovic has struggled for game time this season too and has been used sparingly as a substitute under new Los Blancos boss, Carlo Ancelotti.

Arsenal will need to sign a striker in the coming windows, especially if – as expected – Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah leave when their contracts expire at the end of the current season.

In January, the pair will be able to open talks with other clubs over a pre-contractual agreement.

The Gunners have subsequently been linked with several names, including English duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins, but perhaps Jovic is an option worth exploring.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, via the Daily Star, Jovic has requested an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu as he looks to get his career back on track.

During the 2018/2019 season, Jovic scored 27 times in 48 games, with a total of 36 goals in all competitions during his time in Germany prior to his big money move to Madrid.

Luckily, there’s still plenty of time for the Serbian to re-establish a similar vein of form.

The Gunners signed six players in the summer, all of whom were under the age of 25. At just 23, Jovic still has most of his career ahead of him, and judging by Edu and Mikel Arteta’s transfer market criteria, signing him may be worth the risk.
