Edu has decided on Arsenal's next three transfers after Salah-Eddine deal confirmed

Arsenal have confirmed that Salah-Eddine has joined the club on a free transfer after his departure from Dutch side Feyenoord earlier this year.

The 17-year-old midfielder, known as 'Salah' will join the Gunners' Professional Development Phase for the 2020/21 season, and has already trained with his new teammates.

Salah is the latest of the Arsenal academy's recent influx of signings which include George Lewis, Tim Akinola and Jonathan Dinzeyi.

Speaking to Arsenal's official website, after joining, Salah explained what his strengths are.

Gabriel Magalhães: In profile

"I’m a central midfielder and I like to play box to box," he said. "Offensively I’m a creative player and I can play with my left or right foot.

"I score goals and get assist, and defensively I like to think I do my bit too, especially in the transition.

"First I want to become an important player in the under-23s and then eventually get involved with the first team in some capacity.

"I want to see what that’s like, but above all else I want to have a really good season with the under-23s. Maybe if I do that then I’ll be able to join the first team here and there in training. Those are my targets."

It is thought that Arsenal's desire to add "development players" to their ranks is to not only strengthen the club's academy, but to potentially develop first-team players.

With deals for Salah, Willian, Lewis, Akinola and Dinzeyi agreed, it is understood that Arsenal will turn their attentions to strengthening the first team squad in several other areas.

The Gunners are targeting a dynamic central midfielder to stiffen the spine of the side, with Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey among the club's main targets.

Arsenal have reportedly made several bids with a player swap deal among their offers, but Atletico are insistent that they will not sell the Ghanaian international unless his buyout clause of £45million is met.

It is understood that Arsenal have also made initial contact over a potential move for Roma's Amadou Diawara, with the Guinea international seen as an alternative to Partey.

Another area Arteta hopes to strengthen is at centre-back, with Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes a player the Gunners hope to finalise an agreement for.

Manchester United and Italian outfit Napoli have also been closely linked with the Brazilian centre-back, but football.london understands Arsenal are aiming to push through a deal for the 22-year-old, with a fee already agreed with the Ligue 1 side.

Another player linked recently is Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, and according to French outlet L'Equipe, Arsenal have been in contact with an offer of cash plus Matteo Guendouzi for the 22-year-old.

The report claims Arteta is believed to be a big admirer of the player’s talents, and it was director Edu who made the offer verbally over the telephone.

As well as new faces, the north London side also also hope to seal another loan deal for Dani Ceballos, after the Spain international forged an impressive partnership with Granit Xhaka in recent months to help Arsenal secure Europa League football and win the FA Cup.

Arteta has made it clear that he wants Ceballos to stay at the Emirates, but the Gunners have not yet made a breakthrough during talks with Real Madrid over another loan.

The final piece of business that Arsenal's hierarchy will hope to rubber stamp is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's new contract.

football.london understands the Gunners are close to agreeing a three-year contract worth in excess of £250,000-a-week with their club captain.

Arsenal had long been optimistic that the Gabon international would agree to extend his stay but having an agreement in place early in the brief window between seasons will allow the Gunners to push forward with the ambitious rebuild Arteta wants.
