Edu has already decided Arsenal's next two transfer deals after Nuno Tavares announcement

It has been a busy week of transfer activity at the Emirates Stadium - with Arsenal announcing an outgoing, a contract extension and their first signing of the summer.

French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi departed the club on Wednesday, joining Marseille with an option to buy before Hale End goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The club then announced their first signing of the summer on Saturday morning, confirming that Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares has joined for £7million.

The 21-year-old will wear the number 20 - and he explained what qualities he will bring to the Emirates next season.

"I am fast, I am good at shooting with my right foot, but I'm left-footed," Tavares told Arsenal.com. "I can dribble, improvise. That's my qualities, my technique. I have more qualities and I will find more in this club.

"I'm so excited because it is a big club and for me as a young guy, it is a pleasure to be here."

With a young, promising left-back already secured on a long-term deal, the Gunners' will now turn their attention to strengthening the squad in several other areas.

football.london understands that Edu and Mikel Arteta will turn their attention to Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga and Brighton defender Ben White as they look to strengthen their spine of the team ahead of next season.

A deal for Sambi Lokonga is nearing its conclusion, with a fee potentially rising up to £18million for the Belgian starlet.

The Gunners are also optimistic about signing White after having two bids of £40million and £45million rejected for the England international.

The Seagulls reportedly want a fee in the region of £50million for the 23-year-old with White keen on a move to the Emirates in a deal that should be able to be completed before the season starts next month.
