Edu has already decided Arsenal's next transfer and more summer plans after £50m Ben White deal

Arsenal are set to be the first big spenders in the summer transfer market in the Premier League.

The Gunners are on the verge of a £50million deal to sign centre-back Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The England defender looks set to swap the south coast for north London after an agreement between the two clubs neared completion.

Arsenal had an initial £40million bid for the 23-year-old rejected, but were not deterred and football.london now understands that an agreement over a £50million fee is close.

The Seagulls were keen to get the full fee up front, with Arsenal hoping instead for an initial £45million outlay with a further £5million in add-ons.

White is understood to have agreed personal terms over the move to the Emirates, with confirmation of the transfer expected in the coming days.

But where do Arsenal turn after that?

Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his squad this summer, having seen the Gunners fail to qualify for European competition for the first time in 25 years last season following an eight-place finish in the Premier League.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of other players in this transfer window, and football.london also understands that following the White deal, Arsenal will turn their attentions to a deal for Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

The 21-year-old is also close to a move to the Emirates, with technical director Edu keen to tie up that transfer once White has gone through.

According to who scored, Lokonga's strengths include passing, through balls, dribbling, long shots, concentration and ball interceptions.

Meanwhile, his playing style is described as someone who draws a lot of fouls from the opposition and is not afraid to take shots from long range.

Once those two incoming deals have been concluded, Edu and Arsenal will concentrate on player sales, with Konstantinos Mavropanos expected to sign a loan with an obligation to buy deal with Stuttgart.

Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are also likely to be sold before any more new signings come in.
