Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.
Oh no, Onana
Inter Milan have beaten Edu in the race to sign Andre Onana from Ajax, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness.
The report claims that the Serie A champions have found an agreement with the 25-year-old, who has ‘just said no to Arsenal’.
Onana sees his current deal in Amsterdam expire come the end of the season making him eligible for contractual talks in the January window.
Our view: A year ago I would've had the opinion that Arsenal should sign Onana and crown him with the number one shirt, however, Aaron Ramsdale has been super since he's come in.
The Englishman's excellence has handed the Gunners a Harry Kane-esque problem whereby any goalkeeper that Edu now approaches will know they are being signed as a backup.
Pires pushes for January overhaul
Robert Pires has tasked Mikel Arteta with the mission of signing another defender at Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The former Gunner detailed how the north London side needs to build upon the English core of talent at London Colney following the £80 million success story of Ramsdale and Ben White.
"It is difficult but in January if Arsenal can spend money maybe on a defender because I think our midfield and strikers are very good players," he said, speaking to the Mail Online.
"In my opinion [they should] sign English players because we need English players in this squad because when you play in the Premier League, you need a player like this.
"They need to spend the money on a defender in my opinion, English."
Our view: Edu has done very well to build a strong core of English players at Arsenal whether it be in the transfer market or in the academy.
I wouldn't be surprised if the English defenders on Pires' shopping list comprised of Max Aarons, Tariq Lamptey, Ezri Konsa and Ben Godfrey.
Should another defender be viewed as a priority at the moment though? I'm not so sure.
Fiorentina hand Arteta wake-up call
Arsenal face new competition in the transfer pursuit of Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi following the forthcoming of Fiorentina, according to various reports.
The Gunners registered interest in the Italy international earlier this season, according to Italian outlet Fantacalcio.
However, fellow Italian outlet CalcioMercato has since reported that Dusan Vlahovic's side has emerged as keen candidates for Beradi's signature too, handing Arsenal a wake-up call.
The reports state that Sassuolo are willing to relieve the 27-year-old of his services for a mere £25 million.
Our view: It may not be the Fiorentina wake-up call that Arteta was hoping for amid the Gunners' reported interest in Vlahovic, but Berardi would be a good signing nonetheless.
He's a serial goal scorer, finding the net 37 times in his last 72 Serie A appearances, and has enjoyed success on the international stage having played a key role in Italy's Euro 2020 success.
