Edu can raise £52.2m at Arsenal to fund January deals for Houssem Aouar and Odsonne Edouard

Arsenal will have to get creative in order to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.

The north London outfit can consider their summer business a success after signing Thomas Partey on deadline day from Atletico Madrid to go alongside deals for Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian, Dani Ceballos, and Alex Runarsson.

However, an inconsistent start to the Premier League season has highlighted where manager Mikel Arteta must strengthen if he's to lead the club back into the Champions League.

Four players being tipped for a move to the Emirates in the new year include Houssem Aouar, Dominik Szoboszlai, Odsonne Edouard and Patson Daka.

Although, the Gunners will probably need a windfall in order to sign at least one of those players and already appear to have suffered a blow in attempts to sign Szoboszlai amid talk of a £17m move to RB Leipzig being imminent.

With that in mind, there aren't too many players technical director Edu can look to sell in order to get a cash injection to improve Arteta's squad in the new year.

As many as three players who could realistically leave when the transfer window reopens are out of contract at the end of the season, including Mesut Ozil who hasn't been registered in the Premier League or Europa League squads as per Arteta's decision.

The 32-year-old is one of the club's highest earners on £350k-a-week and the club would probably waive a transfer fee if they could find a team willing to take on his wages.

Meanwhile, Shkodran Mustafi wants to leave the Gunners on a free transfer when his contract expires in June and has already rejected an offer from the club, as exclusively revealed by football.london last month.

Sokratis is another player who looks set to depart next summer, but with a value of £5.4m on transfermarkt, finding a buyer for him in January would be ideal.

With that said, the defensive duo and Ozil are more likely to leave for free when their contracts end.

In terms of raising big money, Alexandre Lacazette is the most realistic option.

The 29-year-old's contract expires in the summer of 2022, so a decision regarding his future must be made fairly soon and was linked with moves to Atletico Madrid and Juventus a few months ago.

Valued at £37.8m, that type of money for a player woefully out of form would be too good to turn down

Sead Kolasinac looked set for a move to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and is valued at £9m if the Gunners decide to move him on.

In total, that's £52.2m Edu could possibly raise via player sales in a dream scenario that would then fund a deal for one of Aouar, Daka, or Edouard.
