Edu can complete £50m Arsenal summer signing as Ben White's transfer stance made clear

Ben White 'is keen' on moving to Arsenal this summer amid reported interest from the north London club.

The Athletic reported last week that the 23-year-old has 'emerged as a concrete target' for the Gunners, who are preparing a move for the central defender.

White performed brilliantly for Brighton & Hove Albion last season, with his form earning him a call-up to Gareth Southgate 's 26-man England squad following Trent Alexander-Arnold's tournament-ending injury.

The Seagulls are reportedly demanding between £40-50million for the former Leeds United loanee, but his stance has now been revealed, which could have a big impact on the fee paid.

White wants to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, according to the Daily Mail, despite signing a four-year deal at the Amex just last summer.

The report also claims that because of his new status as an England international, White would command a significant wage increase from his apparent £35,000-per-week deal down on the south coast.

Arsenal are reportedly keen on bringing another centre-back to the club following David Luiz's departure upon the expiry of his contract later this month.

White is someone that can play as a holding midfielder, a right-back, as well as his orthodox centre-half position, which makes him a really attractive option for Mikel Arteta.

However, Manchester United and Liverpool are also thought to be interested in the defender, although Leeds United have reportedly pulled out of the run-in to re-sign their former fan favourite.

If United or the Reds did make a move for White, then it could spell bad news for the Gunners because of their two rivals able to boast Champions League football next season.
