'Edu better prepare a masterclass!' - Arsenal fans fume amid Bruno Guimaraes transfer update

Arsenal look set to miss out on long-term transfer target Bruno Guimarães.

The 24-year-old is said to be close to joining Newcastle United, with a £30million fee reportedly agreed between both clubs to seal a deal in the January window.

The Brazilian is set to undergo a medical in Ecuador later today, with the Magpies in pole position to land his signature as their transfer rebuild under Eddie Howe continues at pace.

Having long been rumoured with a move to north London, the Gunners are yet to launch a formal bid, with Italian side Juventus also hinted as another possible destination for the midfielder.

With 10 assists so far this season for Les Gones, Guimarães could be available as soon as next month, with the window edging ever closer to its completion.

And with Gunners fans urging their side to match the bid made by the Magpies, football.london have taken a look at some of the social media reaction to the breaking news - with many fans unhappy a relegation-threatened side appear to have the upper hand over Arsenal.

@eLliotMCFC12 tweeted his shock, stating: ''Arsenal have lost more transfer targets to other clubs than they've lost matches this year.''

@king_pearxe said: ''Everyone linked to Arsenal is going to another team.''

@E1lCapitan tweeted: ''Edu must be cooking up a surprise cos what is this!''

@JoshuaOladime17 shared his thoughts, saying: ''Edu had better prepare a masterclass, fans will go nuts.''

@theoluwaseunma added: ''Wow I thought the guy wanted to join Arsenal, now look what's happened.''

@ishaaaaaqi said: ''Newcastle must have a bigger pull than Arsenal''
