Edu and Mikel Arteta's first words after Arsenal confirm Dani Ceballos transfer

Arsenal have confirmed that Dani Ceballos has rejoined the club on loan for a second successive season.

The Spanish midfielder played a key role in the Gunners' successful conclusion to 2019/20, starting regularly in Mikel Arteta's first choice line-up, alongside Granit Xhaka.

The Gunners have been in talks with Ceballos' parent club Real Madrid for several weeks, with Arteta making no secret of his desire to bring the midfielder back to the Emirates.

Ceballos becomes Arsenal's third summer signing, with the arrivals of Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes boosting the Gunners' squad ahead of Arteta's first full season in charge.

Gabriel: a transfer worthy of excitement

Speaking to the official club website, technical director Edu explained why the club moved to re-sign Ceballos.

“We’re thrilled to have Dani back with us for the new season," he said

"We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success.

"We’re excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.”

Gunners boss Arteta added: “Dani was and integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form.

"I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player.

"We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”
